Why doesn't kong support opentelemetry in the API phases?

When I try to trace my my custom plugins API endpoints, it doesn't look like kong instruments them and exports the custom traces that I try to export. Any specific reason it's not supported there? Or are there any other plugins that can help me with that?

the doc says that they support admin_api phase,

but from code it doesn't look like such :/
