Process for the migration of a component to V5

I saw a podcast in French today with @dvoituron discussing about the migration to version 5.
I'd like to contribute if I may but it would be easier for me if I had a better idea of the whole process to achieve such a task for one component.

Can you please point me to any resource related to that topic? (Ex: Existing PR, wiki, docs, issues, labels to filter).
