This appears to be a networking/DNS issue (or possibly a pod issue):

psql: could not translate host name "postgresql-master.extended-test-postgresql-replication-2-4828f-p25nl.svc.cluster.local." to address: Name or service not known

The service definitely existed at the time we were looking it up as seen from this entry:

service "postgresql-master" created

So either the pod's DNS settings are wrong, or the DNS server itself did not get updated. Note that we retry that lookup for quite a while, so it's not just a short race condition.

Issues go stale after 90d of inactivity.
