How to test ping timeout in nodeJS

I am testing my socket, I use jest for testing I need to trigger a disconnection with the ping timeout reason, specifically.. how can I do that?

For a ping timeout on the client side, you can clear the heartbeat timer on the server:

io.on("connection", (socket) => {
  clearTimeout(socket.conn.pingIntervalTimer);
});

The client won't receive a ping packet in time, which will trigger the disconnection.

For a ping timeout on the server side, you can mute the client:

import { io } from "socket.io-client";

const socket = io();

socket.on("connect", () => {
  socket.io.engine._sendPacket = () => {};
});

The server won't receive the pong packet, which will trigger the disconnection.

On the paper makes sense but unfortunately I didn't manage to create a working test... . any chance I could get a very simple test which triggers the ping timeout disconnection? or any other ideas for how to test it.. like Playwright
